Ashby's cavalry harassed Kimball's retreat to Bath, but Kimball and (most of) his commissary wagons arrived in the town by the end of the day. Jackson's column was following Ashby's horsemen and is encamped southeast of town, his campfires visible to the Kimball's men and the citizens of Bath.
Federals have occupied Martinsburg and Strasburg, but little else is known about what they are doing there.
Snow covers the ground across the campaign theater, but the snow has stopped. Stars are visible along the Potomac and Lower Valley. The temperature remains in the upper 20s.
