Dutch Lick School Done

The Dutch Lick School map is completed. I am just doing some final testing, but it should be posted tomorrow.  I added a logging camp, which is another place at which units can be ordered to deploy. (Units must stay along the roads and deploy at marked locations, unless engaged.)

Back to Dutch Lick School

After a first failed attempt due to a technical mistake, I am working on the Dutch Lick School map again. There are a lot of contour lines to draw in before I can set the topography for the TC2M modded map.

The darker the area, the lower the topography. The dark area along the left section of the map is the low lying area around the Little Cacapon River.  Little Cacapon Mountain will be a ridge in the middle of the map. The area will be heavily wooded and not the best locality for a major battle. But... given its proximity to Three Churches (an objective in the simulation), it could be the scene of some action.

New Manual (at last)

Before going back to the Dutch Lick School map, I did some work on the simulation manual. It has been reposted on the player resources page.

Dutch Lick School Needs a Re-Start

I had been working on the first step of the Dutch Lick School TC2M map: painting on topographic lines in different shade of the gray scale in order to set the topography of the terrain. The was supposed to be a difference of 5 shades of the gray scale between contour lines. At some point I started making them 10 shades apart and need to start over.  I spent some time on the revised rule manual instead.

Salem Church Screens

Here are a few screenshots from the Salem Church map:

Salem Church TC2M map

The TC2M modded map for Salem Church is now done and posted. I had a great time testing it over the weekend. It is well suited for a battle. Unlike most of the wooded and hilly terrain across the campaign theatre, Salem Church has a low, rolling terrain without any mountains. It has some clear areas that can support a line of several batteries.

Salem Church is the gateway to Slanesville (an objective) for Federals coming from the west along the Cacapon and North Branch Turnpike. It could be the site of an engagement if Federals are able to push that far.

I am now getting ready to start on Dutch Lick School, which lies between Hainesville and Three Churches. Dutch Lick School is the opposite of Salem Church. It is mountainous and wooded with only a few open areas.
