Battle! - Romney Day 2 - 3:35 p.m. Confederate Press Federal Withdrawal

At 3:30 p.m., the intentions of both sides have been made clear. The Federals have started limbering their guns and moving them towards the covered bridge over the South Branch to their rear.

At the same time the Federals started limbering their guns, the Confederates started pressing forward.  Garnett's Brigade started moving forward to envelop the Federal right and Taliaferro's Brigade moved forward again, advancing with the batteries that had been firing from Hook Hill. Burks' Brigade also started moving on the Federal left.

Federal Infantry is slowly falling back and struggling to hold the line while their artillery moves to safety.

One hope for the Federals may be two cavalry units advancing up the Moorefield Road and out of the woods near Wegman Run  towards the Confederate left and rear. Will that be enough to delay the advance of the Confederate left and keep the Northwest Turnpike open to the bridge long enough to allow for a quick Federal withdrawal to the other side of the river?

The turn continues...
