The February 1862 campaign is starting off with some similarities to the January campaign. At the end of the previous campaign, ordnance stores were destroyed at Frankfort to keep them out of the hands of the marauding Turner Ashby. Once again, ammunition has been destroyed at Frankfort, this time at the hands of Ashby.
During the morning of Day One of the campaign, a total of 12,000 rations, 240,000 rounds of small arms ammunition, and 1,840 rounds of artillery ammunition have been captured and/or destroyed across the campaign theatre.
